RABAUL

This small town is located on the island of Papua New Guinea and contains Tavurvur, one of the most active and dangerous volcanoes on the island.

In 1994, a massive eruption covered the settlement in ash and caused 80% of the buildings to collapse, thus destroying much of this community.

It offers plenty of inquisitive locals with insight to their local customs and also offers a unique swimming experience as the hot springs of the volcano mix with incoming ocean tides.
