How to get started chasing your dreams

Are you letting your fire burn strong so it can shine bright for the entire world to see, or are you keeping it hidden inside?

Many people find themselves trapped in everyday routine - Eat, Sleep, Repeat.

We follow the norms of society, acquire a skillset and market our strengths to the corporate world, all the while ignoring the inner passions that burn inside each of us.

We can each play a role, or we can all find our purpose.
Are you just filling a role, or actually fulfilling your purpose?
Do you want to play it safe, or do you want to take a risk?
Nobody wants to fail, and fear of the unknown keeps most of us from chasing our dreams or exploring our true potential.
This prevents us from succeeding on a personal level.

In order to start chasing your dreams you must first realize and understand what makes you happy and sets your soul on fire.  Get inside yourself and hone-in on what exactly it is that gives you everlasting satisfaction, regardless of the logistics, complications or challenges it presents.

This can be a number of things, but if it is your passion, then it is your purpose.  If it is your talent, it is also your gift.

Therefore, it needs to be shared.

Maybe you aren't able to recognize, acknowledge or accept this right away, as many times it is something that is just "part" of us and doesn't necessarily stand out as something special that we need to pursue.

First, ask yourself what you wanted to be "when you grew up."   More often than not, this inner passion is also the fire that has always been burning inside of you.

Additionally, listen to others who compliment you, encourage you and support your talents.  Many times, people see something in others that not even that person sees in themselves, or they choose not to believe it.  If you are capable of doing something that nobody else can do to the same degree, it needs to be pursued.

Dabble in your interests and take on different side projects.  Play around with new ideas and opportunities and see what sticks.  It will feel right when it's meant to be, and once it latches on you won't be able to let it go.

Do not get discouraged if you haven't figured it out yet.  Everyone realizes certain things at different stages in their lives and there is no right or wrong to the process.  Sometimes life takes us on unexpected detours, but as long as we find our way back to the main path, we can always make it to the final destination.

It may take a lot of brainstorming of how to go about tackling this kind of pursuit but creating a vision board or mapping out your ideas can definitely be useful.  This will allow you to see the greater picture but also focus on the smaller details within your idea. Visit and research similar concepts, careers, shops, etc.

The most important thing to remember, however, is to not get discouraged.

It is easy to see someone else doing something that in turn will seem overwhelming or daunting to you.

It will be difficult to not compare yourself or think you need to do something better or different.  It will be tough to find motivation when you know you're just getting started, while others are already successful and profitable.

Stay focused on what YOU are doing and stay in your own lane.  You have to remember everyone started at the beginning and it is not a competition or a race to the finale.

There are multiple people that belong doing the same thing, and there is room for everyone to do exactly what they want to do.

The idea behind researching your own pursuits is that it will allow you to absorb additional information and provide you with some form of guidance and inspiration that you can do the same thing.  You can gather ideas from multiple sources and turn it into something of your own.

Whether you are an artist, entrepreneur or entertainer, the world needs your creative input and innovative thinking.

Maybe you want to be a doctor, police officer or teacher, which all play a vital role in society.  The community is one giant melting pot of different skills, passions and purposes that we all need to be using to contribute the greater good of humanity.

There is a market for everything, and people will benefit from the goods/services that you offer, no matter how abstract or ordinary they might seem.

Once you have realized, accepted and embraced your gift, you can begin pursuing it to your heart's desire and start to see that you are meant to share it with the world.

This is your purpose.

Every person and situation are different but the most important thing to remember is that in order to get to the destination, you have to start walking.  It will not be easy, and there will be moments that you feel like giving up.  It might be an enormous mountain to climb, but as you progress it gradually gets smaller and smaller, offering an incredible reward at the summit.

Put yourself out there, however that might be.  Use social media, make phone calls, send emails or physically go into places.  You have to reach out in order for someone to grab you.

Stay focused, patient and determined.  Things will gradually come together and begin to fall into place.

Whatever you feel is your life mission can be accomplished by simply putting efforts towards pursuing it.

Do not let a "no," "can't" or "won't" discourage you.  Instead, use it as fuel to prove them wrong.  Rejection never feels good but once you begin to see it as a guiding force rather than an end all be all, you will start to see that there are greater powers at play and the universe always knows what's best.

You have to stay strong, and be willing to go along for the ride, no matter how bumpy it gets.

Simply put, it is never too late to start chasing your dreams.  More importantly, it is never too late to accomplish them.

In the end, you will see that it was all worth it and will be able to live in true happiness knowing you are living life the way you want to live it.
