How to gain thousands of followers in just a few months

If you are any kind of content creator, you have probably realized by now that social media is an essential tool to getting your work out there.  As a photographer/artist myself, I have struggled for years trying to gain organic followers and traffic that would translate into any kind of sustainable income.  It wasn't until just recently that I was able to gain much needed traction for this strenuous endeavor!

Although there are many platforms in which you may share your work, the tips and tricks I will explain in this article are for Facebook specifically.  Of course, posting on multiple platforms will continue to give you the greatest amount of reach, potential and additional followers but there is one tool in particular that only Facebook offers and that is the information I will be sharing with you here!

The first thing to make sure of is that your account is set up either in professional mode or that you have a separate "business" page.  Assuming you already have a personal profile, I would suggest getting a separate business page over trying to use your existing one.  This will keep all your notifications segregated, give you more of a professional appearance, and allow you to customize your page to include a button that takes people to an outside site where you can then obtain sales of whatever you are trying to market.

To give you an example of what you too can be capable of, I started posting from my brand new business page in December 2022 and by May 2023 have obtained a whopping 10k followers!  Never in my life, on any platform, have I ever crossed the threshold of even 1k followers so you can imagine the excitement I felt, especially for someone who has always dreamed of making it!

So, how do YOU do it?  Well, the process is relatively simple.  What it mostly comes down to is posting in a variety of groups, and posting regularly (1-2 times a day).  The types of groups you will post in will need to be specific to your niche, and finding ones with large amounts of members will yield the best outcome.  Be aware, however, that even some of the largest groups may have the smallest amount of actual activity.  With this being said, it is important to scan the group, see what kinds of things people are posting and the reactions they get.  You're not really out anything by joining and trying, but don't let the lack of response discourage you.  Simply try another group and/or another post!  You will be surprised the amount of reactions you can get from one group versus another, even if it is the exact same post.

This is where the magic happens.  Any reaction you get from your post (like, love, wow, etc) will generate the ability for you to then "invite" that person to your page.  In order to do this, simply go into your post and click on the reactions portion, where you should then see the "invite" button next to the persons name.  It's that easy!

Now, the ball is in their court.  Odds are (once receiving the invite), they will visit your page and if they like what they see, they will want to stay.  This results in them accepting your invite to follow and maybe even dropping some love to your page along the way!  This makes it just as important to make sure that you are not only keeping up with group posts, but adding content to your actual page too.

Don't forget to check the reactions in your own posts, since some people may see your post via a share or the mysterious workings of the Facebook algorithm.

If you have a good post that generates hundreds or even thousands of reactions, it will be somewhat time consuming to go in and send invites to everyone, but you can't expect results without the work.  From personal experience and observation, I estimate approximately 10-15% invites being accepted, and of course this will be dependent on your niche, content and audience.

Once you see your page start to grow hundreds to thousands of followers over the course of a few days/weeks, you will be hooked.  Of course some of these are bots, spam or potential scammers, but it is easy to spot them and delete/block them from your page.  The majority of everyone else appears to be a real humans that have genuine interest in you and your page, thus creating the potential for lifelong connections.

Any staircase worth climbing requires you to take that first step, so let's get climbing!

I hope this information helps other artists and creators start to reach their goals.  If you have any other tips or suggestions worth sharing, please free to drop a comment below.   You may also feel free to message me if you have any questions.
