My Inspirations
(Inspiration for this photo came from a photo competition submission during my time on ships)
We all have our defining moments.
Moments in which time seems to stand still and everything in that instant is immediately embedded into our sub-conscious.
Those sub-conscious feelings continue to brew, and once recognized have the ability to work themselves not only into our conscious, but our reality.
These moments of inspiration can range anywhere from a quote, an experience, an interaction or something as simple as self-reflection.
I am sharing some of my defining moments with you here, in hopes that it may spark the same fire within you.

Poems
“Only as high as I reach can I grow
Only as far as I seek can I go
Only as deep as I look can I see
Only as much as I dream can I be”
- Karen Ravn
Lyrics
"You know a dream is like a river
Ever changin' as it flows
And a dreamer's just a vessel
That must follow where it goes...
And I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So, I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry."
- Garth Brooks & Victoria Shaw
Interactions
I was no older than 10 years old, sitting alone in the airport waiting for my flight. A man next to me turned to me and asked, "Hey kid, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
I had no idea why this strange man was talking to me, and don't even remember if I even gave him an answer. I believe I gave him a shrug and didn't even open my mouth.
I do, however, vividly remember him pulling out a black and white photo and telling me, "This is me when I was a kid, and wanted to be a movie star." He then proceeded to pull out a VHS tape, called One More Shot and told me, "This is me now, I am a movie star."
I still didn't fully understand what his point was, but it has since followed me through all my endeavors and truly inspired me to be exactly what I want to be.
To this day, I do not know exactly who he was, but he left an everlasting impression on me and for that I am grateful.
